Turbo Jam, the lifesaving workout program

Turbo Jam is the most rewarding, most encouraging, most fun, and most modern workout program ever!  I have lost 3000 pounds using this program. And so can you!

Turbo Jam is better than other workout programs… cough…cough….p90x…. Anyways the reason that p90x is annoying is because Tony Horton is in charge of it.  That dummy.

Turbo Jam first became a group when Miss Johnson organized them.  They were a tightly packed group of friends. They all enjoyed working their butts off to weird music, and Turbo Jam was made!

And last, but not least of all, my mom has learned cool kicking and punching maneuvers because of this amazing program. She has scared away criminals and creepy clowns…. Our family feels safer with the knowledge that mom has been learning Turbo Jam moves!

I wish to thank Miss Johnson and all the Turbo Jam people for helping me enjoy working out! I will forever be in their debt. You should try Turbo Jam.  It will give you so much to be thankful for.  There really is a double rainbow with Turbo Jam!

The Walk Series by Richard Paul Evans

The series is finally done...

It was an excellent series.  I loved his walk, his food descriptions, his love of the people he met, and his reactions to the trials he faced.  I really enjoyed the last paragraph of the final book.  I highly recommend this series.

WW II Stories

I recently read three true stories from the war years. These stories were unknown to be before. They are great stories of heroes, survival, resilience, rescue and the remarkable ability of the human body and spirit to come through unbelievable experiences. They are all worth the time to read.

Eating Light and Clean

My newest mission in life is to try and eat light and clean, and to exercise.  It all started on Pinterest and after the miscarriage.  I knew that I felt like I needed to cleanse the last 3 years of stress and hormonal treatments, so I found this cleanse online.

Team Taralynn Cleanse

Team Taralynn Meal Plans
(I am not following it exactly.  I have looked at what they can eat and I'm doing what I can do and following Lose It to make sure I am getting enough calories. 1300-1500 cal per day)

I looked at the cleanse and thought that it was the most reasonable cleanse I could do.  So I did that last week, and here were my results.

First, I lost 6.2 pounds in 6 days.  WOW.

Next, I lost at least 0.5-2 inches around each of my main body parts.  I measured my arms, bust, waist, hips, thighs, calves and even my neck.  I could hardly believe it.  I had no clue it would make that much difference in inches.

Most importantly, I felt empowered.  I felt like I could say NO and be OK.  I felt happier, had more energy, and everything seemed lighter.

The most stressful part is that Greg is completely NOT doing this, nor is any of my family. (They all support, and sometimes Greg helps make and eat those meals, but it's different when I'm by myself doing this lifestyle change) So family dinners are so hard.  Dates or even just days out doing things are tough.  We can't just stop anywhere to eat.  We have to pick a place where I can eat too (and being new to cleaner eating means that I have no clue where to go).

So I ate light and clean for mostly a week and a half. Then I went to some stupid training yesterday where they fed us lunch.  Costa Vida pork burritos.  I was even prepared for this and brought a bland turkey sandwich and fruit.  But I have to be honest.  It's not much that the pork burrito was calling to me and that I was craving the food...  It was that I didn't want to explain my diet to anyone.  So I ate the burrito.  The entire thing.  (I justified it of course by saying it was mostly rice and beans and that didn't seem so bad).  My stomach immediately did not agree with me.  I felt awful physically.  Then when I got home, my sugar craving (which had basically been non-existant the last week and a half) kicked in so strongly.  So I ate a ton of chocolate covered pretzels.  My body felt even more awful.  Then I did something stupid.  I got an extra large Diet Dr. Pepper around 6:30.  I drank it all.  (I justified it because I had a bad day - ok!)  Then I had something that I don't ever recall having.  Caffeine rush.  I was up until 11:30 and could NOT fall asleep.

Moral of the story:  Eat lighter meals more frequently.  Follow the "diet" or LIFESTYLE plan for yourself.  And stay away from caffeine.

I am not beating myself up though.  I refuse to let slip ups control me.  I control my choices and therefore can control my diet and exercise.

I got up this morning at 5:30.  Ate half a banana.  Did my Jillian Michaels workout.  Now I'm going to shower and I know I am not going to have a crappy diet day.  I am going to eat healthier, lighter and cleaner.  I KNOW that it makes me happier and helps me feel better.  And now I am ready to continue my better choices!

My exercise plan is the following:
October - Jillian Michael's 30 day shred 6x per week (I'm off to a lousy start, but oh well!)
November-December - I.N.S.A.N.I.T.Y!!  (Love that work out - reminds me of when I played basketball in high school - intensity, cardio... YES!)

I've saved recipes from the crockpot recipe that I will put in my mealplan next week.  And I've pinned a bunch of clean recipes on Pinterest that I hope Greg will also like for dinner.

Some of my favorite healthy things of late...

Co-op!
http://www.bountifulbaskets.org/
This is a co-op with lots of pick up locations, lots of veggies and fruits!  Awesome prices.

Workout Apps for the smart phone:
7 minute workout (can do repeated sets for a longer workout if desired)
Sworkit (this has cardio, strength, yoga, stretches, and can be any number of minutes... you choose!)
Other fav workouts are TurboJam and TurboSculpt, P90X YogaX, running (even inside the home around "the circle")

My crockpot(s):
Seriously, with schooling 8 kids at home, I need these in my life!  I love dumping ingredients in and being done (with dinner) early on in the day.
Check out this website for a lot of quick, easy, pretty cheap recipes
crockpot365.blogspot.com

Facebook:
Bob made me join facebook so I could "be married" to him on Facebook, whatever that means.  I started viewing and wasting a lot of time on there.  So, he and I just this past week cut out all the non-family members.  Now it is being used for what I want it to be used for... keeping in touch with family. Keeping in touch with family is healthy!  Trying to keep up with (insert random huge number) "friends" is not... at least for me.

Having my family back together again... Leslie is home!
Oh boy did we miss her:
*Our singing time wasn't the same, she "brings us [up] a whole octave"
*She is our main peacemaker
*Giggles and crazies day and night
*Main faceplanter on the living room floor (no fear!)
*And main hug-giver in our home... I almost forgot to hug her today, I guess I got used to not being attacked for a hug

Scriptures and Conference Talks:
Heavenly Father knows what I need to learn each day.   He always supplies me with just the right verses or talks to focus on!  Thank goodness!

This could get long.  I'll leave it at this.

Loseit.com

Sorry about another post that is not related to books or movies, but I love this app and website.  Loseit.com!

I first heard about it years ago from my brother Brandon.  I "tried" it and failed.  Then Marcy started using it to help Holden lose weight.  It took about a year, and he lost 30 pounds!  He is my inspiration to keep diligent with the LoseIt app.

I especially like the Challenges they have on there now.  It's what inspired me to do a Facebook challenge.  LoseIt challenged me to log food and exercise every day in the month of February.  So I extended that challenge to Facebook and am trying to get everybody to log exercise for the month of February.  I know not many people are participating, but it really motivates me to exercise when I have to report it on Facebook and LoseIt.  And I love seeing that others are doing it with me such as my Mom and Raylene.  And I know that Dres is doing it too.

There is another challenge on LoseIt to eat fruits and veggies at every meal.  I might try doing that for March... It's a bit daunting to me, but that's why it's called a challenge!

Anyway, that's a great app and you can log food and exercise and take on fitness/health challenges!  And it's very user friendly and I truly enjoy it.

*Just as a side note, when I am doing LoseIt I know that my calories are not exact.  I try to eat within my food calories and I ignore the fact that my exercising allows me to eat more calories.  For example, today my budget was 1,207calories and after exercising it said I could eat 272calories more.  I try to ignore that and just stick to my food calories since I'm also not 100% sure how many calories I am really burning when I exercise, nor do I really know 100% how many calories I ate.  But it's still a great tool!

Wow, I am a rambler today...

Neutrogena

Ok, so I know this is not a movie or a book, but it's a produce I am really coming to love.

For a couple of years now I have struggled with acne on my face and other places (back and arms primarily).  I have hated it so much!  I tried ProActive and I hated how it seemed like such a process.  Cream 1 in the shower, Liquid 2 after the shower, Cream 3 after Liquid 2 dried (and dried out your skin like crazy) etc etc.

So I started using Neutrogena products and I love them.  I can honestly say that I've loved each produce and it's cleared up my skin so well that I'm not embarrassed anymore.  I don't have to wear as much cover up and I even dared a new hair color because I knew it wouldn't show the blemishes on my skin.

So if you or anybody you know is struggling with acne, tell them to try any Neutrogena product! It doesn't dry out your skin and it works fast!

Ok, that was my ad.  :)

PS- I like the grapefruit kind, though other kinds work wonders as well.
